F60 Visitor Mine Lusatia

Weighing in at 11,000 tons, the "horizontal Eiffel Tower of Lusatia" provides a fascinating insight into the history of mining as well as incredible views across the Lusatian Lake District.

Take a walk along a giant piece of mining technology, the F60 colliery conveyor bridge in Lichterfeld near Finsterwalde that is also known as the "horizontal Eiffel Tower of Lusatia". Measuring 502 metres in length, 202 metres in width and 80 metres in height, it's no surprise that this bridge can be spotted from afar. This is without doubt one of the largest moving pieces of machinery in the world. Visitors can inspect around 1.3 kilometres of the structure up close and even access a viewing cab that is 74 metres above the ground, offering a stunning view of the changing landscape, which used to be home to a coal mine. _x000D

The walk in the sky lasts around 90 minutes. Be sure to visit Lichterfeld on a summer's evening and prepare to be wowed by the sight of the F60 brought to life by artist Hans Peter Kuhn's light and sound installations after dark. Opening times: Summer: Every day 10 am–6 pm, Winter: Wednesday to Sunday: 11 am–4 pm
