In Xanten in North Rhine-Westphalia, on the site of the former Roman settlement of Colonia Ulpia Traiana, you can go on a journey back in time at Germany's biggest open-air archaeology museum.
For around 400 years Xanten was one of the most important Roman sites in Germania. Since 1977, visitors have been able to see what remains of the Roman town at the LVR Archaeological Park in Xanten. There's something for everyone including the award-winning LVR Roman Museum and a comprehensive programme of events.
