Verdant greenery, idyllic river valleys and dramatic rock formations are what give the Nahe wine-growing region in the south-west of Germany its distinctive character. The mild climate ensures that the grapes ripen early and develop a pleasant level of acidity.

This wine-growing region also boasts diversity in its soil types, allowing for many different grape varieties to be cultivated despite Riesling grapes accounting for a good quarter of the area under vine here. Visitors hoping for real insight into the wine-growing process in the region should head for the Nahe Wine Route, set off on a bike ride on the Nahe Cycle Path or go for a stroll along the Rhine-Nahe Wine Hiking Trail. All of these options are exceptional experiences thanks to the interplay of the countryside, picturesque villages and vineyards.

Main grape varieties: Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Kerner, Silvaner, white Burgundy and Pinot Gris
