Archives Day

Archives Day on 4 March is devoted to remembering our heritage. On this day, records belonging to federal states, towns and cities, universities, museums and specialist archives throughout Germany are open to the public. As well as informative tours and lectures on the work of these archives, there are special events such as a workshop on reading and writing ancient scripts at the Lower Saxony state archives in Hannover, and a reading of historical thrillers at the city archives in Münster. The carnival archives in Mainz take you on a journey back in time, as do the archives of the Deutsches Museum in Munich.
