The Laboe Cod Festival has been held at Kiel Firth since 2000, and the tasty white fish will once again be the star attraction in 2012. The festival, which is organised by fishermen for fishermen, features a fishing event to determine who will be crowned 'cod king' and 'cod queen' for 2012. And those who don't fish can still visit the stands on the beach and sample delicious north German specialities. The festival runs from 29 March to 1 April.
