German Cyclists' Federation (ADFC)

The Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club, ADFC, the German Cyclists’ Federation, is a nationwide, non-profit organization, with 137 000 members, who share a common goal: to make traffic friendlier for cyclists and pedestrian

Apart from its commitment to an environmentally conscious and thus sustainable mobility the ADFC advises on all aspects regarding the bicycle. These include consumer education, technology and accessories, as well as tourism and political issues.

The ADFC was founded in 1979 in Bremen and has 16 state associations, 400 district associations as well as branch offices and information centres in 80 towns. The ADFC is committed to the persistent promotion of cycling. In this it cooperates with all societies, organizations and institutions, which are committed to improving safety and environmental protection in transport. At European level, the ADFC is a member of the European Cyclists’ Federation ECF. The ADFC is politically neutral, but biased when it comes to the interests of people travelling by bike.
