The Rhineland Nature Park: a little leisure time between the Rhine and the Eifel

The Rhineland Nature Park lies west of the cities of Cologne and Bonn and is defined by its varied countryside, cultural diversity and countless leisure and recreational facilities.

Forests, rivers, lakes and hilly volcanoes alternate with level countryside and small villages. Here there are nine different natural landscapes waiting to be discovered, and every one of them offers different opportunities for rest and relaxation.

The Rhineland Nature Park features striking attractions such as the Baroque palaces of Augustusburg and Falkenlust, which have been recognised as UNESCO World Heritage sites, as well as an endless array of sporting and leisure activities. Whether you enjoy cycling, hiking, jogging, skating or water sports, the Rhineland Nature Park is second to none!

The lakes on the Ville mountain ridge offer cool refreshment in summer, whilst the southern end of the nature park is well worth a visit in spring and autumn. This is where Germany's third largest fruit-growing region and its many taverns and farm shops can be found.

The four visitor centres - Gymnicher Mühle, Friesheimer Busch, Himmeroder Hof and Haus der Natur - offer visitors further insights into the park, as well as information about key areas of interest for those looking for some rest and relaxation.
