The State Museum is situated in the Old Palace at the very heart of Stuttgart. It is nothing short of a treasure trove with its exceptional collection from the fields of archaeology, art history, cultural history and folklore.

Thanks to its unique exhibits and exceptional collections from the fields of archaeology, art history, cultural history and folklore, the Württemberg State Museum is a treasure trove like no other. Visitors can expect to gain an in-depth insight into the cultural history of the Württemberg region spanning some 250,000 years.

Spectacular exhibits provide a fascinating look at the life of Württemberg's former residents – from the very first people to set up home in the Neckar Valley to those living here at the start of the 20th century. Archaeological finds offer the best insight into prehistory and early history and the centuries leading up to the Early Middle Ages. The bone flute that was carved 240,000 years ago is a special sight to behold and it is quite amazing to think that it is one of the oldest musical instruments in the world. The State Museum is also home to fascinating items from popular culture and everyday life. Opening times: Tuesday to Sunday and public holidays: 10 am–5 pm
