Lübeck's historical old quarter

Founded in the 12th century, the town of Lübeck with its historical old quarter is today a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its romantic pathways and courtyards as well as a wealth of the old quarter's attractions can be discovered via accessible guided tours led by professional guides in 16 languages.

No current artist stands in public like Jonathan Meese (born in 1970) – soon for twenty years already.
In this first extensive presentation of Jonathan Meese in Schleswig-Holstein, he refers to the concept "Native Country", its large variety of meanings and the shifting evaluation in consideration of migration and the new rise of national socialism. The large-scale cooperation of the five institutions allows a comprehensive approach to the topic in the form of retrospectives, installations, works and performances.

Academics and students present symphonies and chamber music of Brahms and his contemporaries at the highest artistic level.
The 28th Brahms Festival is organised by Lübeck's Academy of Music from 3rd until 12th May 2019. The strains of classical music and the stylish ambience ensure an unforgettable experience. Famous lecturers from the Academy of Music delight audiences during the annual Brahms Festival with familiar and less well-known compositions from the late Romantic period. The renowned festival has been taking place in Lübeck since 1992. This year's motto of the festival will be "Abysses – Rays of Hope".

The Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival is back performing on Lübeck's stages again in 2019. Fascinating performances and a varied programme enrich the Hanseatic city's culture programme from 6th July until 1st September. This year's Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival will be dedicated to the composer Johann Sebastian Bach.
