Economy Class on short- and medium-haul flights
On short- and medium-haul flights airberlin offers superior level of comfort. The new ergonomically-shaped leather seats transform the flight into a relaxing and comfortable travel experience. Guests enjoy the award-winning service incl. free snacks, sandwiches, bagels or baguettes (depending on departure time and flight length) as well as a large choice of complimentary soft drinks, teas and coffee (free alcoholic beverages on German domestic flights from 2:00 pm). On many airberlin routes with a flight time of 60 minutes or more, airberlin offers the ability to order exclusive and freshly prepared gourmet meals from SANSIBAR Restaurant. airberlin offers a varied and extensive entertainment selection on short- and medium-haul flights incl. TV series, movies, radio channels and reading material.

Economy Class on long-haul flights
On long-haul flights, airberlin offers even more comfort with the new Economy Class. The ergonomically-shaped seats on long-haul routes with individually adjustable headrest, extra padding and anti-thrombosis cushion, transform the flight into a relaxing and comfortable travel experience. Each seat is equipped with its own monitor and the new comprehensive Inseat Entertainment system provides more than 200 hours of entertainment options to choose from. Our guests will receive headphones free of charge on board as well as a wide range of newspapers and magazines. Guests in Economy Class receive excellent onboard service at all times. On long-haul flights airberlin serves passengers warm or cold meals, snacks and a wide choice of beverages. The selection of complimentary has been extended and include a wide choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. In order to make the journey more pleasant, airberlin provides its guests on selected night flights with an Amenity Kit.

Business Class on long-haul flights
airberlin Business Class guests enjoy excellent service and comfort on board and ground at all times. Exclusive priority status at check-in and boarding, as well as access to lounges and waiting areas guarantee a relaxed start at the airport. The new Business Class cabin onboard is equipped with 19 seats, guaranteeing privacy and relaxation during the trip. All seats have direct access to the aisle and can be adjusted to a FullFlat position for sleeping. At the touch of a button the seat turns into a completely horizontal bed, allowing to relax and sleep peacefully. In addition there is an adjustable massage function to help guests feel more at ease. Numerous shelves and storage compartments are provided to stow away all belongings, including the airberlin Amenity Kit, which contains high quality personal care products.
During the flight, guests enjoy an aperitif service and exquisite multi-course meals inspired by recipes from the famous Sylt restaurant "Sansibar" and created exclusively for airberlin. The service is complemented by a wide selection of high-quality alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
The individual on board entertainment system is built into every seat and offers a wide range from cinema highlights, series, games and music albums to audio books. High-resolution monitors use modern LED technology with individualized operation and Noise-absorbing headphones are available for outstanding sound quality. A power connection and USB port is available in every seat. Furthermore there is a wide selection of exclusive newspapers and magazines for airberlin guests.

e-Services for Check-in
airberlin offers guests a variety of e-services for a fast, convenient, safe and mobile check-in. From 30 hours to 45 minutes before departure, guests can check-in online via or with the airberlin iPhone app. Travellers print out their own boarding pass or can have it sent via e-mail, SMS or MMS. The seat can be changed later. The service is even advantageous for baggage drop-off, as airberlin passengers can use the baggage drop-off desk at the airport. With the airberlin iPhone Check-in application, the boarding pass barcode can be accessed directly at the gate. Guests can also use the app to retrieve their airberlin topbonus account balance and mileage program details. In addition, the app provides information about the destination. Owners of smartphones can check-in for their flight and reserve a seat via the mobile version of the website at The boarding pass is sent directly to the mobile phone as a barcode via MMS, SMS or e-mail. Updated departures and arrivals may also be viewed as well as the airberlin topbonus program. In addition, Quick Check-in machines are always available for airberlin guests to use at the airports.

The award-winning frequent flyer program topbonus has more than three million members collecting and redeeming miles on flights operated by airberlin, NIKI, the strategic partner Etihad Airways and the oneworld airline partners. airberlin welcomes and encourages group travel throughout its extensive network. A dedicated and experienced team is available to handle group enquiries in an efficient and highly professional manner. The airline welcomes enquiries not only from the travel industry, but also from companies, as well as from consumers directly. airberlin provides group air travel to trade shows, major sports events or just for a visit to one of the interesting cities in Germany.

For groups of at least 10 people departing and arriving under the same flight number, a group offer is exactly the right choice.

MICE - Your competent partner for events
With airberlin meeting & event solutions, airberlin offers a tailored solution for the MICE market to meet event planners' individual requirements: whether working with fixed allowances or special congress & event fares, bookings handled centrally by an agency or directly by event participants themselves, airberlin meeting & event solutions always offer an optimal level of service. And our service is worldwide – for a small event as well as for a major conference. airberlin meeting & event solutions offer a full range of products, such as group and star travel packages, special charter flights and congress & event fares fitted for meetings and corporate events. For congresses, trade fares and major events airberlin offers additional special event tickets to all event attendees.

Barrier-free Travel

airberlin provides a number of services for passengers with restricted mobility. For example, it offers a free assistance service, both at departure and destination airports. Passengers with disabilities or who have difficulty walking are provided with wheelchairs free of charge so that they can get to and from the plane. airberlin transports passengers’ own wheelchairs at no extra charge, and they do not count towards the luggage allowance. It also carries medical aids and equipment (e. g. ventilators, inhalers and mobility aids) and medication for free, provided passengers present an appropriate medical certificate.


airberlin provides FIT travel through a variety of channels including GDS (e. g. Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre and Worldspan), internet and the airline’s call centre.

Our commitment to the environment
airberlin has a comprehensive approach to sustainability in its role as an eco-efficient airline. Indeed, airberlin is the first airline to have been awarded the ÖkoGlobe for its commitment to the environment. airberlin introduced an “Eco-Efficient Flying” program, which comprises more than 55 measures in the areas of flight planning, weight reduction, aircraft modernization and flight operation to reduce emissions and conserve fuel. In 2013, airberlin set a new record with an average fuel consumption of just 3.3 litres per 100 passenger kilometres flown, making the airline more eco-efficient than any other network carrier in Europe.
