Daily newspaper Die Welt reports on the growing trend for flotation spas in Germany. There are already almost 100 flotation centres in German towns and cities. 'Floating' involves taking a bath either in an isolation tank or a small room where your body 'floats' on the water, which has a high salt content - just like in the Dead Sea. It's a great way to reduce stress and promotes feelings of calmness and tranquility. The treatment is mainly used for relaxation, but it can also be prescribed for health and medical reasons, including as a form of pain relief for migraine sufferers and for people with sore muscles and joints or problems with their backs and necks.
