Growing appreciation of German wines

The German Wine Institute, referring to figures released by the market research company GfK, has announced that spending on wine in Germany is rising – which is positive news ahead of the ProWein international fair for wines and spirits in Düsseldorf from 4 to 6 March 2012. Although the German winegrowers' harvest fell by one quarter in 2010 compared with the average for the previous year, which meant that the amount of wine produced fell short of market demand, German wines still account for 51 per cent of wine sales in Germany.

A holiday in Germany's wine regions, a tasting at a vinothek or a visit to a wine festival are wonderful opportunities to enjoy your favourite wines at the places where they are made.
