16th Herring Festival on Usedom

You can enjoy tasty fish dishes along Germany's coast all year round. The best time for herring is in March, the height of the herring fishing season around the island of Usedom. For four weeks from 3 to 31 March 2012, freshly caught herring features prominently on the menus of the restaurants in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Delicious culinary specialities are served up during the festival, and the most original herring dish is awarded the 'Golden Herring'.
