Discovering fairytales by touch

'Berührungen II – World of Fairytales' at the Daetz Centre in the west Saxony town of Lichtenstein near Chemnitz is an unconventional tactile exhibition, which presents 25 fantastic artworks crafted from wood, textiles and other materials. The idea is to feel these with your hands and learn all about famous and lesser-known fairytales as you do so. A sophisticated guidance system, descriptions in braille and a specially designed lighting concept make it possible for blind people to explore the exhibition for themselves. Special glasses also give sighted visitors an opportunity to experience what life is like for someone who is blind.

These works of art that can be explored by touch will appeal especially to blind or partially sighted visitors, as well as to families with children and school groups. They are on display until 3 June 2012.
