100 years since Karl May's death

The author Karl May is best known for the character of Winnetou, a Native American hero. To mark the 100th anniversary of his death, a number of special events are taking place in Radebeul in Saxon Elbland (where May lived and worked) and Hohenstein-Ernstthal in the Erzgebirge mountains (where he was born). The life and works of Karl May are the subject of a commemorative event on 30 March 2012, a symposium and programme of lectures at Dresden University of Technology on 30 and 31 March, and an exhibition at the Karl May Museum in Radebeul featuring original manuscripts. A new Karl May discovery trail has been opened in the museum garden for children.
