Gerhard Richter is a leading German artist whose paintings are highly acclaimed around the world. To mark his 80th birthday on 9 February 2012, the New National Gallery at the Kulturforum in Berlin is presenting the exhibition 'Gerhard Richter Panorama' from 12 February to 13 May 2012. It provides an insight into works from every phase of the artist's career.

There are other interesting exhibitions at the many museums in Berlin, for example on the Museum Island at the heart of the German capital, which has been awarded UNESCO World Cultural Heritage status.
