Speyer Technology Museum

Speyer Technology Museum is just a stone's throw away from the landmark cathedral at the heart of the imperial city of Speyer. Covering an outside area of 150,000 square metres and an inside exhibition space of 25,000 square metres in total, the museum is home to Europe's largest exhibition on space travel.

At Speyer Technology Museum, visitors can climb into an original Boeing 747 and investigate the inside of a submarine and a lifeboat. Europe's largest exhibition on space travel can be found inside, showcasing the Russian BURAN space shuttle, original moon rock, space suits and a Soyuz landing capsule. There are thousands of other exhibits, including powerful steam locomotives, classic old cars, historical fire engines and racing motorbikes.

In the heritage-listed Liller Halle exhibition area, a Welte philharmonic organ stands on a raised platform, with its three manuals, 36 registers and 2,592 pipes. The organ can be played manually or automatically using a paper music roll. The Wilhelmsbau Museum is on site too with its display of mechanical musical instruments, fashion and a magnificent doll collection. Opening times: Monday to Friday: 9 am–6 pm, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays: 9 am–7 pm
