German Wine Institute – all about German wines and their regions:
The German Wine Institute (DWI) is the central communication and marketing organisation for the German wine industry. It is responsible for promoting German wines in Germany. It’s an umbrella organisation for the German winemaking industry and aims to support sales of fine wines from the 13 wine-growing regions in Germany through non-competitive marketing campaigns in Germany and abroad. Headquartered in Mainz, the institute currently has some 38 employees and operates ten German wine information offices, including London, New York and Toronto.
The DWI promotes German wines through various communication channels, including press activities, public relations, advertising campaigns and events. The DWI also gives presentations at trade fairs, organises training courses and seminars and conducts market research. All marketing activities of the DWI focus on convincing consumers that the fine and quality-certified wines from all 13 German wine regions are among the world’s best. Key aspects of these activities are the uniqueness of German winegrowing (cool climate zone), the significance of viniculture and the promotion of wine tourism. More information: www.germanwines.de
