A toast to Goethe or a glass of wine beside the Moselle? Germany's wine regions host a huge number of welcoming wine festivals. The Goethe Wine Festival in Weimar, on until 26 August 2012, has a wonderfully traditional festival atmosphere.

Visitors in Cochem can sample fine rieslings and sparkling wines on the market square and along the Moselle promenade until 27 August. This is one of the biggest wine festivals in the Moselle wine region and features a grand parade, musical entertainment and a spectacular firework display.
