With the sword or strong faith - Luther and the witches
From May 2016 to the late 2018 the Medieval Crime Museum is mounting a major exhibition on the history of people's belief in and persecution of witches - from the early days to the end of the great witch hunts.
It focuses particularly on Martin Luther and his views on witchcraft. The exhibition also looks at the Reformation and the persecution of witches in Franconia and Rothenburg ob der Tauber. More than 100 priceless exhibits, modern museum technology and detailed information in German and English provide visitors with a profound insight into the man Martin Luther was, the era in which he lived and the hopes and fears of the people in the 14th to the 17th centuries.
