    The Konstantin Hering Memorial, Oschatz

Born in 1800 in Oschatz, Saxony, Konstantin Hering attended to the studies of medicine in Dresden and Leipzig.

During his apprenticeship he was assigned to disprove the young discipline of homeopathy with scientific arguments. Through this work and an experiment on himself, which prevented him from losing his hand to amputation, he became a fervent advocator of homeopathy. After numerous expeditions he came to Philadelphia in 1833 and established homeopathy in America. A commemorative plaque at the town school reminds visitors to Oschatz of Konstantin Hering.
