Travelling in our small groups, uninsulated from the world you are visiting by a coach window, allows you to get an up close and personal experience of your destination and to discover the essence of the place you are visiting. You will get to see not only the big ‘must see’ highlights but also the less discovered places, you will get a feel for the history and culture that has shaped the country as you see it today and you will taste the food the way the locals do it. We are dedicated to making exploring the world on foot a fantastic and positive experience for everyone; both us as travellers and the locals whose country, culture and lifestyle we have come to enjoy.

The Bavarian Beer Garden Holiday

Nuremberg: beer garden When the warm days of summer arrive, bringing with them balmy evenings, its high season for Upper Bavaria’s beer gardens. What better place is there to end or take a break from a walk than in one of these venerable institutions? They’re expecting warm weather in Bavaria next summer… at least two litres in the shade.

Neuschwanstein Castle near Füssen Our holiday is based in the charming Bavarian village of Bad Kohlgrub in the Ammer Valley. During our week we’ll walk to beautiful lakes and waterfalls near Bad Bayersoien and Murnau, walk in and around the high mountains above Oberammergau and Garmisch, and visit some stunning Rococo buildings. Cultural highlights include the Monastery at Ettal and its brewery and King Ludwig II’s palaces of Linderhof and the unique Neuschwanstein Castle.

Ettal: Linderhof Palace Most days both groups of walkers will end their walk at the same beer garden. Amongst those we visit the charming “Fischerhäusl”, tucked away in an idyllic spot on the shores of the Bayersoier Lake. There’s even a large lawn for those who prefer drinking their beer in a horizontal position! Then there’s the beer garden opposite the fabulous Ettal monastery, which serves the ‘Ettal’ beer that monks have been brewing for more than 400 years. Other drinks are, of course, available!
