Since the company was founded in 1839, the long-standing brand "Roeckl" stands for finest leather gloves and premium accessories

King Ludwig II was one of the most important patrons of arts and crafts that Bavaria has ever had. As soon as you enter these craft workshops you are immediately seized by the very special charm of the traditional industries: soak up the elegant atmosphere and be delighted by handmade leather shoes, the very best in jewelry, brewing and fine foods. Enjoy an extraordinary shopping experience, just like in the time of King Ludwig.

How producers became "Suppliers to the Bavarian Royal Court": Between 1806 and 1918 the reigning monarchs awarded the Bavarian Royal Court title as a personal distinction and guarantee of outstanding quality. Once a year the Court Title Commission assembled to evaluate the many applicants. Only those chosen were permitted to use the sought-after title and display the royal crest in their company's own mark.

Historical Festivals

The Ansbach Local Heritage Society revives the time of the Margrave Charles William Frederick of Brandenburg-Ansbach with dance and music. Court ladies and gentlemen appear in magnificent costumes in plays, masquerades and guided tours

What is jousting and how were knights able to fight at all in their heavy armor? What did the court ladies wear in the rococo period? Why was it the children of Dinkelsbühl who managed to rescue their town from plundering? And what does a huge dragon have to do with the Upper Palatinate? Visitors can find answers to all these questions in Bavaria this summer. At the numerous historical festivals, the fascination of past centuries is impressively brought to life and captivates adults and children alike. We show you the variety of tradition-steeped events in the Free State.
