The Moselle region is the oldest winemaking region in Germany and one of the most traditional in Europe. Today, more than 4,000 vintners in over 100 winemaking villages manage 8,800 hectares of vineyards along the German section of the Moselle, which follows a 243-kilometre course from Perl on the French border to Koblenz.
Row upon row of vines cover the steep hillsides of the valley, creating the wonderful vineyard scenery so characteristic of the Moselle. Regional specialities include the elbling, müller-thurgau, pinot blanc and pinot noir varieties. The region also offers a whole host of highlights for cyclists and walkers to discover.
