Mannheim and the Rhine-Neckar region will be hosting a major cultural event from 8 September 2013 to 2 March 2014. The Wittelsbach dynasty ruled over the Palatinate for 600 years and left behind an impressive legacy of art and culture. The Reiss Engelhorn Museums and the baroque palace in Mannheim are among those mounting an exhibition entitled 'The Wittelsbach dynasty on the Rhine. The Electoral Palatinate and Europe', which promises to be a highlight in the 'Wittelsbach Year' in 2013. History buffs can also experience the exhibition at various other locations in the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hessen. These include the Palatinate Museum in Heidelberg, Erbach in the Odenwald forest, and also Speyer and Edenkoben in the Palatinate.
