Between 25 November 2013 and the end of the year Lübeck is transformed into one big winter wonderland. This UNESCO World Heritage city with its historic centre creates a breathtaking backdrop for Christmas markets and artisan fairs, earning Lübeck the nickname 'Christmas city of the north'. What's more, elaborate lighting displays illuminate the whole city. As well as the main market in the old quarter, there's an enchanting historical Christmas market with coppersmiths, silversmiths and street performers, while Koberg square provides the setting for a maritime market. And there's plenty to keep the little ones entertained too: their eyes will light up when they discover the fairytale forest and the festive world of wonder with its own railway.
