The Thuringian Bach Festival is the largest festival of classical music in Thuringia, a region known for its musical heritage. It is taking place this year from 11 April to 4 May 2014. You can expect a varied programme featuring works by Johann Sebastian Bach at venues associated with this great composer. Bach has close ties with Thuringia: he was born in Eisenach in 1685 and held his first posts in Arnstadt, Mühlhausen and Weimar before moving to Leipzig.
Thuringia is also home to a number of museums that shed light on various aspects and periods of Bach's life.
