The Fête de la Musique is a unique event that takes place every year on 21 June, the start of summer, in countries all over the world. First held in 1982, this festival of music has now become a global phenomenon. Concerts and musical entertainment are offered in 520 towns and cities worldwide, 297 of which are in Europe. In Germany alone, 42 towns and cities take part. Bands, orchestras, choirs and soloists perform music of every genre. You don't even have to pay, because all of the musicians perform for nothing!
Berlin is one of the places in Germany that hosts the Fête de la Musique – and is doing so this year for the 20th time.
