On 14 and 15 April 2012, skilled artisans will be demonstrating a variety of crafts in the historical half-timbered buildings of the open-air museum in Hagen, south of Dortmund. All of them involve a needle and thread in some way and all are traditional skills – such as weaving, spinning, felting, sewing, knitting, embroidery and beadwork. You can also follow the different stages of processing wool from the fleece of the sheep to the finished yarn. Various hands-on activities will give people of all ages a chance to get creative themselves and many of the historical museum workshops will also be in operation.
