Beauty and charm are the hallmarks of the Saale-Unstrut vineyards with their premium-quality wines. In Germany's northernmost winegrowing region müller-thurgau tops the list of white wines, while portugieser, blauer zweigelt and pinot noir are the finest reds. The unspoilt landscape of gently sloping vineyards, steep terraces, dry-stone walls and quaint little vineyard houses is best explored on the Saale Cycle Route or the Saale-Unstrut Wine Route – scenic tours that combine irresistible food & drink with holiday adventure in this idyllic wine region.
