Paläon opens in Schöningen

Around 20 years on from the spectacular discovery of the Schöningen Spears, an archaeological research and discovery centre opened its doors in Schöningen, Lower Saxony on Monday, 24 June 2013. Inside the ultra-modern museum building, you can travel back some 300,000 years into the past in order to learn about prehistoric times or to join a thrilling hunting expedition. There's a visitors' science laboratory which will fascinate younger guests, while parents will enjoy exploring the extensive parkland where they can 'get to grips' with prehistoric plants and animals.
