Season's greetings from the GNTB in a year full of discovery

Throughout the year, we have been showcasing interesting destinations and events to visit in Germany. If you think you might have missed something, why not take a look at our review of the year.

Our news blog launched into a busy 2017 with a piece on the Berlin International Film Festival, otherwise known as the Berlinale, and a look at the traditional carnival season in Germany. In April, we explored the trend of social dining and explained why Nuremberg is bathed in blue light once a year. In early summer, we celebrated the city of Essen as the European Green Capital and turned our attention to the much-anticipated documenta art exhibition.

Events worth visiting and insider tips

During the summer, we featured action-packed rollercoasters, explored the magic of Germany at night and discovered why Germany is the perfect setting for the big screen and the small. The Frankfurt Book Fair – including a number of insider tips – and the 500th anniversary of the Reformation marked the beginning of autumn. We also revealed the scariest places to celebrate Halloween and ventured into the secret world of the tunnels and bunkers beneath Berlin.

We are delighted that we were able to showcase so many of the experiences on offer in Germany and give you plenty of things to discover over the course of the year. For now, we wish you all a Merry Christmas. We'll be back next year to bring you more exciting news from Destination Germany. On 1 January we will publish an overview of the highlights for 2018.
