The art of slow travel

Are you one of those people who are constantly stressed out? Then why not give slow travel a go. Here you'll find out how this can work for your trip to Germany.

Purposefully slowing down and consciously arriving – Germany has everything you need for your slow trip. Follow these simple principles and experience this sustainable form of travel for yourself.

A quick guide to slow travel

Why always go by plane? The journey is the true destination, so take the train instead and enjoy the views. Or even travel by bike or on foot! Take your time to make a few stops on the way and discover the many facets of Germany's regions. Germany has the right choice for every form of travel, be it a walk along the Rennsteig trail, a cycle tour through the Allgäu region, or a train ride from the Black Forest to the Baltic coast.

And what is a holiday without good food? Fortunately, you'll be spoilt for choice in Germany. With slow travel the emphasis is very much on regional and traditional food. But that doesn't mean it doesn't taste great, of course. If you're travelling in northern Germany you should try a fish roll, and if you're in Bavaria a weisswurst sausage is a must.

Immerse yourself in German culture and come and meet the locals at one of the many regional events. But remember to find time for some relaxation too – unwinding is easy thanks to Germany's wide range of wellness and spa facilities.
