On the night of 30 April, Walpurgis Night, people dressed as witches, devils and demons gather in over 20 villages around Mount Brocken to welcome in the spring. This festival in the Harz mountains traditionally features street performers and medieval music as well as hearty food and an extensive selection of drinks. Whether you dress up in costume or simply go along to watch, this is a fun spectacle not to be missed!
There are many ways to enjoy the public holiday the following day. You might like to take a long walk in the Harz National Park or discover the region's cultural attractions and UNESCO World Heritage sites.
