There is Christmas magic in the air at the Old German Christmas village at the Lüneburg Gate in Uelzen, the town on Lüneburg Heath known for its Hundertwasser railway station. One highlight is the daily ceremony at the old town hall, when trumpets sound, angels appear and the building is transformed into the world's biggest Advent calendar, designed by artists. A new window is opened every day at 6pm. The huge ice rink on Herzogenplatz square offers a genuine slice of winter fun.
