Bathed in a warm festive glow, the enchanting old quarter with its historical buildings and ensemble of St. Mary's Cathedral and the Church of St. Severus provides a magnificent setting for the Erfurt Christmas market. It is one of the most charming in Germany and the largest in Thuringia with a 12m-high Christmas pyramid, a shining 25m-high Christmas fir and a nativity scene with near life-size carved figures. Try one of the delicious Erfurt Schnittchens, as stollen is called here, and set out on a historic city tour with Father Christmas, Mrs. Christmas or an angel.
Christmas market - opening times:
22 Nov - 22 Dec 2016
Sun - Wed 10am - 8pm
Thu until 9pm
Fri - Sat until 10pm
