The Christmas market in Hildesheim is set against the enchanting, historical backdrop of the market square and the Knochenhaueramtshaus, a former butchers' guildhouse reputed to be the finest half-timbered building in the world. The 15m-high Christmas tree and 10m-high Christmas pyramid cover the wooden stalls with light. Around the market well you will discover eight small cabins, which are modelled after old Hildesheim half-timbered buildings. Next the Christmas stalls stretch along the pedestrian zone to the square on the Lillie where high fir trees frame around the stalls except for the horse market. You will enjoy a warm welcome in Hildesheim, a city whose history dates back more than 1,200 years. Two of its churches, St. Mary's Cathedral and St. Michael's Church, comprise a joint UNESCO World Heritage site.
