The Leipzig Christmas market dates back to 1458. This is one of the largest and most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany, with around 250 stalls on the city's historical market square. At weekends (1pm and 5pm) the sound of trumpeters rings out from the balcony of the Old Town Hall, adding to the festive atmosphere. Travel back through time at the historical market “Old Leipzig” on the Naschmarkt and try the regional specialities in the Finnish village on Augustusplatz. Kids especially enjoy the model railway, the elves’ workshop, the fairytale wood, the Christmas bakery and the fairground rides. Adults often meet to chat at the Christmas pyramid by the Nikolaikirche. The festive concerts performed by the Thomaner choir in the Thomaskirche are simply delightful.
