The Christmas market of the nations adds an international dimension to the festive season in the old quarter of Rüdesheim, with 120 stalls from around twelve countries. At its heart is Europe's largest Nativity scene, with surrounding landscaping. Elk furs and jam made from cloudberries are offered by the Finnish contingent, for example, whilst a Mongolian yurt adds an exotic, oriental feel. Other Rüdesheim highlights are romantic river cruises, cable car rides and the celebration of Christmas traditions on St. Thomas' Night (20 December). What about a glass of delicious spiced Glühwein, made from the grapes of Rüdesheim's vineyards? Surprises also lie in store for you at Rüdesheim's Christmas stalls, including the world's oldest music box and the Christmas house.
