The gourmet scene in Germany has rarely ever been so dynamic. And we mean this in the most positive sense!
Over the last few years, more and more talented newcomers have joined the ranks of the top chefs and are making their influence felt. Their concepts range from inspired new takes on simple and regional classics to new creations incorporating international influences. At the moment, more than 290 restaurants in Germany offer Michelin-starred cuisine. They are all well worth a visit.

"Andree Köthe, Gewürzküche" (herb and spice-based cuisine) states an unassuming sign outside the small Essigbrätlein restaurant in Nuremberg's old town. With its crown glass windows, the narrow building conjures up images of a gingerbread house and fits perfectly with its surroundings in the half-timbered romantic old town of the Franconian metropolis. Diners need to announce their presence by ringing a bell pull – and reserve a table in advance as, with just 20 covers, demand runs high.
