From carnivals and Christmas markets to the popular Schützenfest fairs. Many of the festivals in Germany's towns and cities can look back on centuries of history. But like a fine wine they get better with age!
For sheer size, nothing anywhere can top the Oktoberfest in Munich, while both the Schützenfest in Hannover and the Wurstmarkt wine festival in Bad Dürkheim are the largest of their kind in the world. But even if you prefer things a little quieter, Germany is the place for you. Regional harvest festivals, annual fairs and religious holidays ensure that the events calendar stays full all year round.
