The era of East Germany is fast being consigned to the history books; the generations growing up there now will have no memory of what everyday life in GDR society was like.
The documentation centre in Eisenhüttenstadt in Brandenburg chronicles this change through its exhibitions. It bases its work on the latest research findings and works closely on this with universities and museums. Since 1993 the documentation centre has been collecting, examining and documenting objects that paint a picture of everyday life in East Germany.
