The Andernach geyser is situated in the volcanic region of the eastern Eifel. The carbon dioxide that propels the geyser stems from a magma chamber below the young volcanic rock.
Here in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate you are taken on an adventure deep below the earth's surface, while an interactive exhibition explains what's behind this natural phenomenon. The geyser is located across the Rhine from the discovery centre and is reached by boat. Hissing and gurgling, the majestic fountain of water shoots high above the treetops, up to 60 metres skyward.
