Haithabu Viking Museum – just outside Schleswig – is among the foremost archaeological museums in Germany.
Situated on the fringes of the former Viking trade hub of Haithabu ('Hedeby' in English), this museum contains one of the most innovative archaeological exhibitions in Europe. A collection of fascinating original artefacts, a representative dwelling of seven faithfully reproduced Viking houses and multimedia displays transport visitors back to early urban life some 1,000 years ago.
