Tangerine Dream's wistful, meditative synthesiser sounds inspire the imagination. For many years, the group has also provided hypnotic soundtracks for hit films such as Risky Business and Legend (both featuring Tom Cruise).
Tangerine Dream were formed by guitarist and keyboard player Edgar Froese in 1967 in West Berlin. Their breakthrough came with the album Phaedra (1974), which brought in their first invitations to play abroad. Around the world, the band's name was soon equated with electronic music full of symphonic power and esoteric beauty. In the 1990s no fewer than five of their albums were nominated for a Grammy in the New Age category.
