In eastern Saxony, visitors are greeted by a thousand stars. Ever since the first paper stars appeared over 160 years ago in the Moravian (or Herrnhut) Church of Upper Lusatia, Herrnhut advent stars have heralded the coming of Christmas the world over. All year round (except Sundays and public holidays), you can visit the manufacturer, Herrnhuter Sterne, free of charge to see the stars being made. There is also a historical exhibition and a film shown inside a walk-in advent star.
