Laughter exhibition in Mainz

A cheerful theme provides the focus for a special exhibition at the Episcopal Cathedral and Diocesan Museum in Mainz. 'Seliges Lächeln und höllisches Gelächter' (Blessed Smiles and Hellish Laughter) looks at laughter in medieval art and culture. Until 16 September 2012, the exhibition raises the question of how people in the Middle Ages laughed, who was allowed to laugh and what they laughed about.
