On the eleventh day of our tour of Germany's Top 100 sights we visit the Völklingen Ironworks. This UNESCO World Heritage site is the only preserved iron-smelting plant from the heyday of iron and steel working. The Völklingen Ironworks are located on the European Route of Industrial Heritage and bear witness to the great importance of this industry at the time.
