Company Profile
A rich tradition and empirical experience in the international travel business have moulded the Deutsches Reisebüro group of companies (DER Group). Founded in Berlin in 1917, today the company has its head office in the “tourism capital” of Germany – Frankfurt am Main – with its global airport and the representative offices of over 500 tourist offices, airlines, hotel companies and travel companies.
Long company history
Since the year 2000, the Deutsches Reisebüro group of companies has belonged to the REWE Group, which has built up tourism as a second core business area in addition to the trade sector.
Just like the Deutsches Reisebüro group of companies, the REWE Group can look back on a long company history. Since it was founded in the year 1927, the REWE Group has evolved from a co-operative purchasing association into a multinational company. Today the REWE Group, which is based in Cologne, is one of the leading trade and tourism groups in Germany as well as Europe.
Clear product mix policy
The Deutsches Reisebüro group of companies is one of the leading German tourism enterprises. Its activities are clearly divided into three business fields:
- The tour operators of the group include the modular travel expert Dertour, the long-distance travel specialist Meier´s Weltreisen and ADAC Reisen, which focuses on mobile holidays.
- The second important business field is the travel agency sales area with its brands DER Reisebüro and Atlas Reisen in Germany.
- The third mainstay consists of national and international activities in the business travel sector.
High level of efficiency through company-own sales
The full-coverage sales network also contributes towards the success of the Deutsches Reisebüro group of companies. Over 2.000 travel agencies guarantee the necessary presence in the market as well a high level of consulting quality and customer proximity. The sales outlets include the company’s own DER travel agencies as well as the agencies of Atlas Reisen, as well as the franchise partners of Derpart and Atlas Reisen, independent travel agencies that co-operate under the umbrella of RSG Reisebüro Service GmbH and the business travel centres of FCm Travel Solutions.

Meier’s Weltreisen stands for high quality standards at the best possible prices. Over half of all guests combine their beach vacation with a guided tour. In Germany and Austria, Meier’s Weltreisen is the market leader for trips to Asia.
ADAC Reisen
A trusted brand
Over 14 million members place their trust in the ADAC, the General German Automobile Association. ADAC Reisen combines mobility and holidays with the security of the ADAC. ADAC Reisen was founded in 1929. Since the year 2000 is has been a joint venture company belonging to the Deutsches Reisebüro group of companies and ADAC.

Dertour devotes special attention to group and reader tours. In line with the theme of “Discovering countries and other cultures together”, in its adventure travel programme the tour operator offers a wide range of unusual, global group tours that can be undertaken by air, rail and bus.
Social Commitment / Green Travel
Our commitment – help for little ones
Social commitment and taking on social responsibility constitute an integral part of our corporate philosophy. For this reason, in the year 2000 the “Good Deed” programme was initiated. Since then the employees who work at the Frankfurt am Main location have been actively involved in it. In the course of the year, funds are raised through a huge variety of individual activities – by employees for employees – also with the support of the company. The recipients of the donations are non-profit organisations in the Rhein-Main region, which is where the head office is located. In order to use those funds to help in a targeted way, the “Good Deed” initiative has been supporting the Child Welfare Association of Frankfurt since 2006. Among other things, the association gives abused or sexually exploited children and teenagers the opportunity to work through and deal with what they have experienced with the help of therapists. This long-term partnership with the Child Welfare Association is aimed at providing sustainable assistance for this urgently needed project.
Furthermore, as tour operators Dertour, Meier’s Weltreisen and ADAC Reisen also support the battle against sexual exploitation of children in countries that are holiday destinations. As members of the Association of German Travel Agents and Tour Operators (DRV), they have joined forces with the internationally active children’s rights organisation ECPAT to champion children’s rights and fight against sexual abuse. An extensive code of ethics has been agreed upon jointly.
