Spas & health resorts in Destination Germany
Königstein im Taunus is known for its invigorating fresh air. The town is a state-approved climatic health resort thanks to the evening winds that blow across from the nearby Grosser Feldberg.
Although only 25 kilometres from the city of Frankfurt am Main, Königstein occupies a tranquil location in the Taunus hills. The highly respected clinics, dedicated to patient care, are complemented by a wide range of health treatments. Specialist treatments are available for visitors with circulatory problems, nervous disorders, psychosomatic conditions, inflammatory rheumatic diseases, musculoskeletal and respiratory complaints, stomach, intestinal and liver problems and metabolic diseases. Königstein is also the gateway to Germany's only climatic health park with its network of therapeutic walking trails. After a long walk in the Taunus hills, there is no better place to relax than Kurbad Königstein. As well as offering wonderful panoramic views, this spa centre has indoor and outdoor pools, a counter-current, hydro spa and bubble loungers. The resort's other health facilities include an exclusive health and beauty centre, holistic massage practices and a fitness centre with indoor badminton and tennis courts. It is also well worth strolling through Königstein itself, which has a picturesque old quarter with enchanting alleyways, cosy inns and a variety of shops. In summer, the castle ruins amidst the Taunus hills are transformed into a spectacular backdrop for cultural events, including plays, concerts and medieval jousting festivals.
